Obligation Protection

The engine behind obligation visibility.

Learn how WorkUp's Obligation Protection reads reconciled Xero data to give business owners current estimates of GST, PAYG and super positions.

Overview

What is Obligation Protection?

Obligation Protection is the core engine inside WorkUp. It continuously reads reconciled data from Xero and translates it into a current estimate of your GST, PAYG and super positions.

Rather than waiting for quarterly BAS or end-of-month payroll, Obligation Protection refreshes those estimates as transactions are reconciled.

How it works

How obligations are estimated

Obligation Protection uses your reconciled Xero data, GST settings, payroll runs and superannuation rates to estimate the obligation building behind each transaction.

Calculations are always estimates - your accountant or bookkeeper remains the source of truth for lodgement.

Visibility

Reading your obligation view

The Obligation Protection dashboard shows current obligations set aside, upcoming obligations and your estimated available cash after obligations based on your operating accounts.

Reconciliation

Why reconciliation improves estimates

Obligation Protection only counts transactions that have been reconciled in Xero. This helps keep the estimated obligation view aligned with the Xero data your accountant works from.

Important notes

What Obligation Protection does and doesn't do

Obligation Protection is a visibility and allocation engine, not a tax agent. It estimates obligations from your data - it doesn't lodge returns or replace your accountant.
