Automation Rules

Automate the discipline of setting cash aside.

Automation Rules transfer the tax and super amounts calculated by WorkUp's Obligation Protection into your Business accounts each night - so what's owed is always set aside.

Overview

What are automation rules?

Automation rules transfer the tax and super amounts calculated by WorkUp's core Obligation Protection into your Business accounts - so the cash owed to the ATO is always set aside before it gets spent.

You configure the percentages WorkUp uses (for example, your GST rate, income tax provision rate and super rate). Obligation Protection applies those percentages to your reconciled Xero data to calculate what's owed, and the rule moves the matching amount each night.

Schedule

When automation rules run

Active rules run once per day at midnight. They look at the obligations updated that day from reconciled transactions in Xero and transfer the matching tax and super amounts into the relevant Business accounts.

Rules are not real-time. As you reconcile transactions during the day, Obligation Protection updates the amounts owed; the nightly run then settles those set-asides so your dashboard reflects them the following morning.

Setup

Activating and pausing rules

From the Automation Rules screen, switch a rule on to begin nightly transfers, or pause it at any time. Underlying percentages (GST, income tax, super) are set once and used by Obligation Protection to calculate the figures the rule transfers.
